United Airlines Account Manager - Business Dev in Chicago, Illinois

Our Sales team is the largest revenue-generation department at United. They work closely with travel agencies, United travel departments, and corporate clients.

Job overview and responsibilities

  • Capture new revenue generating opportunities by identifying and closing new business leads; manage and grow assigned PassPlus portfolio

  • Maximize annual sales goals by proactively identifying prospects, validating the opportunities, developing customized client solutions, closing sales and following through with contract implementation

  • Validate new customer lead opportunities, selecting the appropriate UA product, gaining customer agreement and following through with contract implementation

  • Manage PassPlus portfolio: Effectively meet customer needs, build productive customer relationships, and take responsibility for customer satisfaction in order to renew and grow our revenue from PassPlus accounts

  • Test new sales products, programs and form of payment concepts with targeted customers

  • Provide timely feedback to the appropriate Product/Program Manager and Sales Leadership on customer reaction and uptake


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of sales/airline management experience


  • Analytical tools (Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce)

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Aggressive, agile and energetic

  • Strong negotiating skills and financial acumen

  • Must have proven ability and desire to cold call and mine for new business opportunities as well as managing an existing account base

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • MBA

  • Industry experience

  • Knowledge and user experience of the company’s systems and data sources used within Sales

  • Distribution channel intelligence

  • Knowledge and user experience with online booking tools
