Job overview and responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to ensure United is prepared to respond to cyber incidents at an enterprise level.

  • Partner with Corporate Emergency Response Team to fully integrate the enterprise-wide response process into the Cyber Incident Response process

  • Coordinate company response to Cyber Security Incidents on an on-call basis

  • Maintain and develop Incident Response Plans that describe in great detail how the company should respond to a scenario

  • Lead training simulation and table-top exercises to maintain Incident Response readiness


  • BS or BA degree

  • Ability to manage complex projects that include cross-functional teams

  • Masterful interpersonal communications and relationship skills

  • Creative problem solving and time management skills

  • Technical writing and documentation

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Ability to translate complex threat and incident information into information understable by a layperson.

The ideal candidate possesses a minimum of three of the below experience items:

  • Experience with Cyber Incident Response

  • Experience in a Security Operations Center environment

  • Experience in Airline Operations

  • Critical infrastructure and/or airline experience

  • Experience with people-coordination or project management efforts

  • Experience with writing technical documentation and maintaining planning documents

  • Knowledge of or experience with business continuity processes and concepts

  • Domestic and international travel up to 20% and 24/7 emergency on-call

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • BS or BA degree in a security-related field

  • CISSP and/or relevant SANS certifications

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Candidate must meet the requirements to obtain a US Government SECRET security clearance
