Analyst/Sr. Analyst – Domestic Network Planning

Please note: This position may be hired at the Analyst level or the Sr. Analyst level, depending on candidate experience.

Overview

The Analyst role is responsible for evaluating flight schedules and making recommendations for changes in order to maximize profit margin while maintaining reliability. In addition, the role supports the creation of the company’s monthly statistics forecast used by various groups in planning the airline’s operations and financial outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with various groups (network planning and scheduling, technical operations strategic planning, United Express, crew scheduling, etc.) to create monthly capacity and fleet outlook

  • Analyze financial performance of United’s schedule and make recommendations to improve margins

  • Develop strategic plans for maximizing long term margin potential within assigned region

  • Work cross functionally with commercial and operating groups to ensure viability of network plans

  • Analyze fleet deployment to maximize revenue and minimize costs

  • Perform ad-hoc analyses on the profitability of United Airlines route network and fleet

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required, master’s degree preferred

Knowledge/Skills - required

  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office

  • Complex problem solving through independent critical thinking

  • Quantitative analysis

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Scheduling experience preferred

Experience

  • 2-4 years professional analytical work experience or 1 year of Aircraft Scheduling/Planning experience required

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
