Reporting to the Director - Cabin Systems Engineering , the Director - IFE Systems Engineering will direct, organize, and control the engineering team that support the in-flight entertainment systems discipline for Technical Operations. This team delivers modification projects, repairs and technical support to improve the safety, reliability and efficiency of United Aircraft.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Cabin Systems engineers, including managing priorities, goal setting, professional development, performance evaluations, and recruiting

  • Monitor and support the day-to-day performance of aircraft to identify, investigate, and resolve operational reliability problems related to IFE systems

  • Guide the development of complex aircraft modification projects including project scope, funding approval, implementation, technical support, and FAA approvals as required.

  • Coordinate with other operational groups to ensure safety, airworthiness, regulatory compliance, operational reliability, operational efficiency, and product appealed

  • Define the configuration of IFE systems for new and used aircraft and manage the "service ready" process for efficient and seamless integration into the United fleet

  • Build relationships and strategic consensus with internal customer organizations including Maintenance, Inflight, and Passenger Marketing

Required

  • Extensive knowledge of FARs, airworthiness design and substantiation criteria, aircraft and equipment design and operational characteristics, aircraft materials and processes

  • Bachelor Degree in, Engineering, Aviation Management, or related field, or comparable experience

  • 4+ years of aircraft engineering experience, including at least two years in a senior management role

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
