Job overview and responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this position is the management of a variety of legal and employment related work and projects. This role is responsible for investigating and responding to charges of discrimination and assisting with the development and implementation of Affirmative Action plans. Key duties in this role also consist of keeping current on legal updates, organizing training logistics and other compliance related projects.

  • Investigate complaints filed against United with State/Federal agencies

  • Responsible for all aspects of the complaint response process; including witness interviews, drafting position statements, strategic decision making, attending fact-finding hearings and working on settlement discussions

  • Represent United at government agencies mediation sessions, fact-finding hearings and other on-site meetings

  • Provide direction and counsel to HR and management on the interpretation and application of Company policies related to EEO compliance and Affirmative Action

  • Keep abreast of changes or updates to employment laws to ensure compliance and training requirements are met and communicate and assist with implementation of any changes relevant to stakeholders

  • Organize and coordinate training logistics with various stakeholders related to a variety of employment legal issues

  • Assist with producing, reviewing and ensuring accuracy of data provided for United’s Affirmative Action Plans

  • Data tracking and analysis of charge activity, applicant logs, training records and other various legal records/reports needed

  • Develop charts and metrics as needed

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Legal, Human Resources, Labor Relations or a related field

  • Minimum 3 years experience in Legal, Human Resources, or Labor Relations

  • Proficient in word, excel and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of labor/employee laws

  • Knowledge of HR policies and relevant collective bargaining agreements

  • Excellent writing skills and able to provide samples of your work

  • Ability to work in a fast- paced environment managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

  • Must have excellent investigation skills and the ability to spot/elevate critical issues

  • Must have excellent written communications skills and the ability to communicate in an effective and productive manner while interfacing with all levels of management

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
