Job overview and responsibilities

This individual contributes to the development & implementation of United Cargo's digital distribution channel strategy, and functions as a business ""owner"" of digital channel initiatives and is accountable for any work being proposed or performed within the platform. The overall objective of this position is to implement the digital distribution channel strategy thereby enabling significant revenue opportunity for United Cargo.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the planning and development of distribution channel strategy to ensure United Cargo remains competitive and relevant in the digital technology space

  • Identify and action opportunities to enhance United's presence and performance in high priority channels (ie web, direct connect, TMS and digital marketplace)

  • Partner with key stakeholders (internal and external) to achieve desired results

  • Implement new web functionality, facilitate direct connect capabilities with select freight forwarders, enable UA to participate in TMS arena and facilitate UA's entrance into digital marketplaces

  • Guide UA Cargo involvement with customers and vendors, as it relates to direct connect, TMS and other customer-facing opportunities

  • Engage with stakeholders, delivery teams, and leadership to ensure the product provides all features, tools, and integrations needed to accomplish business goals

  • Effectively manage the intake funnel, request prioritization process and progress of each request

  • Manage cargo distribution channel performance data, advise management of industry/UA trends and identify future opportunities


  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

  • 3-5 years of proven web development, distribution technology and/or ecommerce experience

  • A hands-on working knowledge of eCommerce functionality and capabilities

  • A strong working knowledge of B2B distribution channels (web, direct connect, TMS & digital marketplace) and related market trends

  • Experience in leading stakeholders (internal & external) in a large-scale technology initiative

  • Proven experience in implementing distribution strategies for a B2B organization

  • A strong working knowledge of product or channel launch for a global organizaiton in a B2B environment

  • An aptitude to identify digital technology opportunities

  • Strong communication (verbal & written) & presentation skills

  • Ability to effectively interact with customer counterparts

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • Proven experience leading change in an Agile/Scrum environment in a similar role

  • Ability to write user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional documentation

  • Experience in functioning as the business "owner" for launching direct connect capabilities and/or introducing a company into a digital marketplace in the cargo industry

  • Working knowledge of Cargo industry and cargo technology platforms
