Job overview and responsibilities
The Program Manager - Engine Vendor Management is responsible for actively managing supplier-based Engine or APU repair programs and for supporting Procurement in the development and negotiation of repair contracts. Objectives include providing maximum operational support, minimizing cost, ensuring compliance with the maintenance contract, and compliance with all maintenance program requirements. This role has extensive cross-functional visibility across the engine shop, engine planning, procurement, finance, engineering, reliability, fleet, and quality. Responsibilities may encompass any United Engine and/or APU repair programs.
Serve as primary liaison between United and supplier on the program.
Coordinate requests from Maintenance for support or resources from supplier.
Projects and Processes
Champion projects to drive cost reduction, address quality, reliability, campaigns or other performance deficiencies, and oversee supplier capacity reviews
Coordinate Technical and Business Reviews and other meetings with key suppliers, operators, and stakeholders
Develop and maintain knowledge of engine maintenance program, shop procedures, and of current or emerging technical conditions specific to the engine
Coordinate with Quality and Engineering to ensure supplier compliance with United maintenance and commercial guidelines
Initiates process for new supplier setup in coordination with Engineering, Planning and Quality
Participate in workscope decisions on each engine with Engineering, Planning, and Quality to clarify cost or contract implications, if any, to make recommendations or advise of likely conflicts or opportunities with the engine, and to liaison with supplier
Ensure that spare engines are available to support operations at all times, per contract allocations and maintenance requirements. Take steps to avert or resolve shortages, and alert management of all significant or chronic shortfalls. Initiate request for leases per contract.
Ensure that piece parts or kits are picked up, inducted, repaired, and redelivered in accordance with contracts and maintenance requirements, without delay.
Ensure that work being accomplished is equal to work being requested and paid for, and to verify that material sources, repair-buy decisions, LLP configuration, and other cost drivers are appropriate and beneficial to the program.
Coordinate with Fleet Management on aircraft inductions and exits to ensure optimal use of engine and engine component assets.
Budget and Forecast oversight and accountability
Support Finance team for accurate financial planning and analysis
Coordinates supplier invoice and invoice credit processing with Vendor Management leadership team, Finance and Accounts Payable
Audit, analyze and challenge invoices
Lead cost savings initiatives
Support Procurement in the development and negotiation of contracts
Request performance remedies per the contract
Enforce contract terms and conditions
College degree or 5 years experience with turbine engine repair processes & procedures
Minimum 2-years experience in repair processes & procedures, supply chain management, procurement or contract management
Demonstrated ability to read and understand complex contracts
Ability to review invoices for accuracy and contractual compliance
Ability to convince, persuade and professionally negotiate with suppliers
Strong business acumen.
Ability to understand, process, and critically analyze technical and commercial information
Proficiency in data analysis
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Powerpoint and Excel
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
BS degree in a technical or engineering discipline, MBA, MS
Experience administrating engine maintenance agreements including cost-per-hour agreements
Experience administrating engine piece-part maintenance contracts
Experience working directly with major aviation or aerospace supplier or manufacturers
Experience leading teams through indirect influence
Process improvement experience
Line maintenance training or engine borescope experience
SCEPTRE, EMS or other enterprise resource planning software, Palantir Foundry, Spotfire experience
Project management, project management or planning skills
A&P Certificate, LEAN Certification, PMP Certification
Detailed understanding of jet engine components, and knowledge of jet engine maintenance including overhaul events.
Strong organizational and continuous improvement skills
Ability to lead and encourage collaboration across diverse teams
