Technical Operations

Technical Operations is the maintenance, repair and overhaul division of United. The department includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.

Job overview and responsibilities

Responsible for developing business justification to support capital funding requests for the facility maintenance and ground service equipment ("GSE") departments. Work involves developing long term capital investment strategies for assets such as jet bridges, GSE, and power support units such as battery chargers. Work will also include ad-hoc analysis related to process improvements and financial analysis to support the facility maintenance and GSE departments.

  • Research, develop, submit and present capital funding requests that support departmental investments

  • Perform routine reporting and ad-hoc analysis to support facility maintenance and GSE departmental initiatives (maintenance cost analysis, variance analysis, process improvements, etc)

  • Coordinate on funding requests and ad-hocs projects with internal departments such as engineering, strategy, systems, and parts teams as well as external departments such as procurement, IT, corporate real estate, global operations, airport operations, technical operations, catering, and finance teams


  • Bachelor's degree in finance or business related field

  • Ability to build strong business relationships to achieve sustainable partnerships and collaborate internally and externally

  • Proven leadership of cross functional teams with strong team-orientation

  • Strong financial acumen

  • Ability to effectively work with all levels of the organization

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (especially MS Excel and knowledge of accounting and financial statements)

  • 2 years of experience in a financial analysis role

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • CPA, MBA or Master's degree in finance related field

  • Expert in MS Excel
