Job overview and responsibilities

The Senior Manager - Supplier Diversity Business Management is responsible for the design, development and implementation of business enterprise programs that enhance and grow the diversification of supplier partners. This leader will develop processes and systems that enable United to meet diversity goals through proactive training, education, influence, analysis and communication with key business unit leaders. This position reports into the Director, Global Community Engagement Programs.

Program advocacy

  • Educate and inform business unit leaders of the benefits associated with a diverse supply chain and advocate for tools/resources required to support business unit participation.

  • Partner with business unit leaders to define supplier diversity goals that provide value to the operation.

  • Build relationships and improve collaboration in a way which allows us to partner on building diverse supplier capacity and increasing the diverse supplier portfolio across major commodities.

Program execution and measurement

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and partners throughout project process.

  • Collaborate with the GCE Social Impact Optimization team to improve focus and outcomes of key initiatives to ensure the effectiveness of programs and affiliations within the supplier diversity profession.

  • Interact with executive management to clearly communicate program goals, results, and suggested actions.

  • Drive and monitor accountability through continuous measurement.

Team management and development

  • Provide guidance and day-to-day support for the team.

  • Support team member development and actively identify new learning opportunities to promote continued improvement.


  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience

  • 5 + years of experience in supply chain, procurement, sourcing and contract management

  • Minimum 1 year of managerial experience

  • Experience in supplier diversity administration

  • Experience briefing and working with executive leaders

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence

  • Maturity to drive change in a complex environment

  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to be a persuasive advocate

  • Process improvement skills

  • Demonstrated track record in negotiations and contracting

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
