The Catering Operations team develops, creates and provides the great dining experiences on board our aircraft.

Assistant Controller - Catering Operations; Denver, CO (DEN)

Job overview and responsibilities

Leads the development and implementation of effective financial controls at the catering unit. Partners and drives kitchen leadership teams to assess needs, recommend, implement, coordinate and evaluate sound business processes. Works with other local & corporate teams to identify improvement opportunities and recommend solutions, including enhancements for overall process improvement. Performs the analysis of financial trends to ensure sound business management at the kitchen.

  • Responsible for the $50M budget and Kitchen Internal controls surrounding Finance, accounting and procurement

  • Manage the assigned functional department

  • Perform duties as an Assistant Controller

  • Approve invoices and expenditures

  • Monitor and report financial/operational performance

  • Prepare monthly forecasts, close packages and annual budget

  • Review and submit capital expenditure requests

  • Support, train and coach station personnel in the implementation of business office processes and technology

  • Support in the development and testing of technology solutions to improve the effectiveness of the business functions

  • Administer systems and procedures to monitor performance and reporting

  • Provide planning and administrative services to internal customers

  • Motivate a team of management and administrative co-workers by providing work tools and training to enhance their customer service and technical skills


  • High school diploma, GED or the educational equivalent of these (from another country)

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Management, Finance, Economics, or a related field

  • High level of analytical ability

  • Strong, demonstrated team leadership skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Highly proficient in MS Office

  • Two to four years experience leading a team

  • Two years of relevant work experience

  • Two years of Finance, Accounting or Internal Audit experience

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • Food manufacturing experience
