Sanitation Lead - Catering Operations

The Catering Operations division develops, creates and provides the great dining experiences on board our aircraft.

Please note that this position will be hired under the Chelsea Food Services divisional work rules.

Sanitation Lead, Catering Operations - Denver, CO (DEN)

Starting salary: $11.95 per hour with regular increases at six months, one year and every year on the "hire" anniversary date

Job overview and responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily shift

  • Perform flight audits and temperature checks

  • Train new associates and assist other sanitation agents as needed

  • Remove equipment from in-bound ovens, carriers, carts, and trolleys; separate & place all equipment on conveyor belt into specified ware-washing machine

  • Remove clean equipment from Meiko/Hobart machines

  • Store and organize equipment on carts and racks

  • Sterilize garbage from international flights

  • Wash aircraft meal carts as needed

  • Scrub equipment containing residue before being re-washed

  • This is a FULL TIME opportunity that requires a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week

  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) or educational equivalent required

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English

  • Must be able to perform basic math & calculations to do PAR levels for equipment

  • Knowledge of Meiko/Hobart ware washing systems preferred

  • Excellent customer service skills preferred

  • Must be able to push carts of dishes

  • Must be able to pull carts of equipment

  • Must be able to continuously stand and walk for entire shift

  • Must be willing and able to perform frequent repetitive motions and constant reaching

  • Must be willing and able to work indoors under regular manufacturing environment conditions

  • Must be able to withstand continuous exposure to heat and humidity from Meiko/Hobart ware-washing machines

  • At least one year experience in sanitation & sterilizing of equipment preferred


  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be willing to work any shift in a 24-hour-a-day / 7-day-a-week operation, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

  • This position is located in Denver, CO (DEN). United Airlines will not provide relocation assistance for this opportunity
