Food Services
The Food Services department develops, creates and provides the great dining experiences on board our aircraft.
Please note that this position will be hired under the Chelsea Food Services divisional work rules.
Job overview and responsibilities
Oversee the daily shift activity of transportation of product, supplies and/or equipment from kitchen to aircraft
Perform duties of all transportation department positions including Tower and Dispatcher or others as needed
Conduct field checks and work with flight crews to assure quantity and quality of food and equipment
Perform physical duties of loading and off-loading trucks
Maintain correct catering supplies and equipment for each shift
Partner with Maintenance reporting on working condition of vehicles and equipment used in the Transportation Department
Write reports when needed for delays, incidents, and mishaps through problem solving and root cause analysis
Periodic safety and galley checks as needed
Guides trucks on and off aircraft as needed
Promote, encourage and enforce a safe work environment
Encourage Safety Team members to be problem solvers and take proactive steps to ensure established company safety practices and policies are followed
Participate in All Vehicles Inspected Safely (AVIS) project leadership and report issues to management
Support unit in the Supply Chain Optimization initiative
Performs other duties as assigned
Tower Lead (responsibilities listed above and those specific to job below):
Dispatch flight assignments to transportation drivers
Perform computer entries, navigation and monitoring of various computer programs (Netguard (NG), Gate View, Flight Tracker, etc)
Maintain constant monitoring of flight activity operation through various computer programs to assist with and communicate any potential disruptions to flight assignments
Provide communication via phone or 2-way radio with drivers, flight crews and/or ground operational crews
Print flight trip tickets
Required
High school diploma, General Educational Development (GED) or educational equivalent
Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
Must be a team player and self-starter
Must work independently with a "take-charge" demeanor
Must have good problem solving techniques and effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to influence others in a positive manner and to be a team player
Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
Ability to calculate totals and percentages for final counts
Ability to enforce, promote and encourage associates to work safely
Must be able to push and pull modules, carts and wagons, lifting and carrying equipment
Must be able to stand continuously as well as having the ability to walk, bend and/or ride in a truck
Ability to use Microsoft Office products including MS Outlook, Word and Excel as well as company computer programs/applications
Minimum of one (1) year of work environmnet driving experience
One year driving experience
Must be at least 18 years of age
Attendance must be acceptable required
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license (Suspended, expired, revoked or denied licenses are not valid)
Must be willing to work any shift in a 24/7 week, including weekends, nights and holidays
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualifications
Reliable, punctual attendance is essential function of the position
