Job overview and responsibilities

Responsible for the sourcing & procurement of catering products for the kitchen. Partners and drives kitchen leadership teams to minimize operational food & beverage costs, implement, and evaluate sound sourcing strategies. Works with local & corporate teams to identify improvement opportunities and recommend solutions, including process improvements. Performs analysis on product spend trends to ensure sound business management at the kitchen.

  • Responsible for procuring over $25M annual purchase for the kitchen operations

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the ERP system (KMS)

  • The buyer has to work with the warehouse, AP, Finance and Food department – who are all the consumer of the system information for different financial functions

  • Ensure proper financial controls surrounding kitchen procurement

  • Analyze spend data from a variety of sources to develop and implement sourcing strategies

  • Negotiate and implement agreements that maximize cost savings, improve service levels, mitigate contractual risks, and creates/improves overall value for United

  • Demonstrate sourcing leadership; communicate and implement fact based sourcing strategies for local purchases

  • Offer expertise to improve the national contracts

  • Remain abreast of internal and external factors affecting purchases; identify opportunities and determine best in class sources of supply

  • Highly experienced and has decision-making authority within broad guidelines

  • He/she is self-sufficient, requires no direct supervision on projects and mentors/coach’s others

  • Motivates administrative co-workers by providing work tools and training to enhance their technical skills

Required

  • BA in Finance, Accounting or Management or closely related field

  • Purchasing experience with Food and related kitchen operational supplies

  • Minimum 2 years purchasing experience

  • Attention to detail is critical

  • Advanced Excel and Intermediate Word and PowerPoint

  • Ability to work independently in a challenging environment

  • Proven ability to work under minimum supervision, requires originality and resourcefulness, developing solutions to unique problems by independently analyzing, interpreting and evaluating data

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • Industrial products procurement experience

  • Food manufacturing experience and Food safety knowledge
