Job overview and responsibilities

Responsible for setting and executing the sales and service strategy and achieving United Cargo's defined sales and service metrics for United Cargo's Latin region. Responsibility includes leading the activities of the sales and operations team (UA employees and service partners) by fostering a collaborative and responsive work environment, based on United's Core4 principles. Partners with Cargo Revenue Management, CSC support teams and Airport Operations to generate revenue strategies and drive service excellence.

Relationship Management

  • Develop and cultivate business relationships with new and existing customers.

  • Identify and communicate interline opportunities to maximize United’s network and capture all global demand.

  • Partner with stakeholders in marketing, revenue management and global sales to optimize sales force operational excellence.

  • Leverage new tools and customer service channels to more efficiently develop, cultivate and maintain positive relationships with all current and potential freight forwarder and commercial customers.

  • Work with account executives to develop targeted/segmented customer models to seek out new sales opportunities, initiate action plans to approach and close new business for UAL.

  • Identify and develop customer specific value propositions and shape solutions that meet current and prospective customer needs.

  • Closely align relationship between Field Sales and Global Sales to significantly enhance communication and streamlining efforts between local and corporate customer expectations.

  • Participate in industry associations and trade shows.

Operational Performance and Execution

  • Promote and assure safety in all areas of responsibility.

  • Support and drive achievement of performance metrics for all Latin region locations by gaining cross department support for effective execution of AWB routings/customer expectations.

  • Promote the effective use of tools and training support to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Communicate, manage and monitor service performance metrics and take corrective action as necessary.

  • Work closely with other Field and CSC Ops Teams to assure dependable and efficient management of all export and import shipments.

Team Performance/ Accountability

  • Build a great place to work by managing employees in multiple countries with differing cultures in a challenging 24/7 environment.

  • Continuously support the development and training of sales and service team members and service partners on United’s network, product, service offerings and performance.

  • Influence performance via internal/external cross functional teaming.

  • Facilitate and enable accountability, transparency and prioritization of cargo metrics to meet/exceed goals and customer expectations

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and lead regional cargo projects focused on driving continuous improvement in all cargo operations areas.

  • Support Cargo Department projects as required.

  • Energize and focus the sales and operations team in processes, equipment and solutions that improve safety, increase service levels, drive revenue/margin increases or decrease/maintain cost.


  • Bachelors Degree

  • 3 years of Management experience in Air Cargo or similar freight/logistics industry.

  • Air Freight experience or related logistics field

  • Leader of people

  • Business Management, experience managing headquarters and/or field teams, influencing skills, customer relationship development

  • Proficient using MS Office

  • English with a preference for bilingual English/Spanish

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • Advanced Degree/Cargo/logistics specific certification

  • Airline experience

  • Previous sales experience

  • Data Analysis,, continuous improvement

  • 5+ years of management experience with specific experience in

  • Cargo Sales or Cargo Operations/Service
