The Catering Operations department develops, creates and provides the great dining experiences on board our aircraft.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Sanitation Manager oversees the execution of corporate company policies, procedures, and training elements in three key areas of responsibility to include food safety, food plant sanitation, and occupational health and safety. The individual in this position will effectively work with operations to ensure that key food safety / sanitation / workplace health & safety objectives and goals are achieved. This position reports directly to the General Manager.

  • Identify gaps and improvement opportunities to ensure the Sanitation personnel safety and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies / procedures

  • Conduct effective, risk-based sanitation audits to identify gaps and improvement opportunities to ensure food safety and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies / procedures and customer expectations

  • Monitor, verify and validate equipment cleaning methods including recommendations to meet plant sanitation and overseeing the plant sanitation and environmental pathogen control

  • GMP compliance

  • Overseeing and direct activities related to pest control including monitoring, record keeping, exclusion practices and treatment programs

  • Ensure compliance of quality programs including GMP & SSOP, evaluation and assistence in development of SSOPs

  • Participate in and contribute to the continuous improvement of SSOPs

  • Perform pre-ops with members of the Food Safety/Food team

  • Create and maintain pre-op check sheets for all areas of facility that include trending of issues found

  • Support floor sanitation team members including their scheduling, training and development, recognitions and accountability

  • Develop and maintain chemical inventories and supplies while ensuring proper usage of resources to be within budget for the admnistration and operation of the Sanitation Team

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED AND Associate of Arts in Business Administration or Food Related fields

  • Strong knowledge of food safety systems and best practices

  • Excellent team building, oral, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)

  • Ability to work within a food plant environment without restrictions

  • Minimum of five years of experience in food plant operations, food safety, sanitation and/or pest control

  • Minimum of two years supervisory / auditing / regulatory experience in a food manufacturing environment

  • Must be willing to work any shift in a 24 hour-a-day /7 day-a-week operation including early mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays

  • Expected to reside or relocate to the general Newark, New Jersey area

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering or Food Related Fields

  • Green Belt on Lean Six Sigma methodologies

  • Certifications in Food Safety, HACCP and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

  • Minimum of three years working in Sanitation for food manufacturing facilities
