Catering Operations

The Catering Operations department develops, creates and provides the great dining experiences on board our aircraft.

Please note that this position will be hired under the Chelsea Catering Operations divisional work rules.

Job overview and responsibilities

  • Responsible for preventative maintenance of all equipment

  • Troubleshoot and repair all United Chelsea ground service equipment, motorized and non-motorized

  • Diagnostic testing, repair and maintenance of gas engines, diesel engines, transmissions, suspension and brake systems

  • Accurately enter vehicle/part/work related information into the company fleet system for purposes of inventory and vehicle history

  • Maintain a safe working environment by ensuring safety standards on all equipment and identifying risks


  • Must have a high school diploma/GED (General Education Development) or equivalent

  • Must read, write and speak in English fluently

  • Minimum 2 year's experience in trouble shooting, repair, and maintenance of gas and diesel engines; electrical and hydraulic systems, or motorized equipment supporting airport ground handling operations

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be flexible to work any shift assigned within a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week operation including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license (Suspended, expired, revoked or denied licenses are not valid)

  • Physical requirements: Walking, Stretching, Standing, Pushing/Pulling/Lifting, Bending and Continuous climbing required

  • Must pass 10-year background check, drug screen and physical

  • Candidate must be able to clear a fingerprint-based criminal history check in order to obtain and retain credentials necessary for the position

  • Position-specific clearances may include but are not limited to FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal service clearances

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position


  • Certification from an accredited automotive school
